The 1st XI slipped to second bottom of the LDCC 1st XI First Division on Saturday after a 29 run loss away at New Brighton.
The home side batted first and fell to 112-6 before a lower middle order ship steadying effort saw them post 187. Greg Coogan claimed his best figures of a truncated season, finishing with 5-37 from 18 overs.
Maghull could only muster 158, with Nick Ritchie scoring 94 of the 153 runs scored while he was at the crease. Paul Walters made 15 and captain Anthony Molloy 12.
Maghull welcome league leaders Liverpool to Hall Lane next Saturday.
The 2nd XI continued their unbeaten start to the season as they claimed an 11th win in 14 league games, beating St Helens Town by eight wickets.
The visitors were invited to bat first and were dismissed for 143 after 38.3 overs. Liam Gibbons led the way with 4-44 with spinner Owen Bromilow claiming 3-44. The Maghull reply was led by captain Jamie Breakwell, who hit 64* from 52 balls as the home side overhauled the victory target after 28.3 overs. Matt Bean scored 33 while opener Josh Brady and Keeper Johnny Hennessy also made double figures.
Maghull are in second place behind Rainhill and find themselves 45 point ahead of third placed Sutton (St Helens). Maghull go on the road next week with a trip to Parkfield Liscard.
The 3rd XI claimed a second straight draw, denying victory to Liverpool Superkimgs on Saturday. The home side batted first and were bowled out for 217. Maghull showed defiance with the bat in the face of accurate bowling and finished on 71-5, with Dave Blackburn contributing 26.
