1st XI spinner Greg Coogan has been named Maghull Player of the Month for July. Maghull Director of Cricket Paul McKenna named Greg the winner of the award after his contributions with the ball throughout the month.

In three league games in July, Greg took 16 wickets at an average of just 7.93. He claimed two five-wicket hauls, with 7-34 against Northop Hall and 5-42 against Highfield. Maghull won both of those games, as well as the third game against Sutton. Greg claimed “just” 4-51 in this one. Greg was Club Player of the Week for his efforts against Northop. He earned a share of the award for his haul against Highfield.

Greg has taken 25 wickets so far this season. He has two five-wicket hauls, both coming in July. He has already taken more wickets in 2026 than he earned in 2025 (23), with plenty of cricket still to play.

Greg is our fourth Player of the Month this season, following Liam Gibbons (April), Jon Ring (May) and Anthony Molloy (June).

Well bowled, Greg!
