1st XI Blitzed by Saleem
The 1st XI have been knocked out of the Liverpool Echo T20 Knockout. They went down by 82 runs at home to Premier Division leaders Newton-le-Willows on Thursday night.
Mohammad Saleem set up the visitors’ mammoth total of 240-2. The left-hander smashed 115* from just 48 balls, with seven fours and nine sixes. Saleem shared a 161-run stand for the second wicket with his captain, Zac Perren, who made 86 from 55 deliveries. He fell to Macauley Lawrenson, with the other wicket falling to Greg Coogan.
Maghull’s reply got off to a blistering start as Jon Ring hit the first ball of the innings for a flat six over square leg. But Ring was one of five players to get into the 20s, with none managing more than 29. Cam Lawrenson got his 29 from 20 balls with two fours and a six. Matt Bean was unbeaten at the end on 29 from 41. Maghull batted their full 20 overs and finished 158-6.
