The all-rounder played a vital role with the bat in the 1st XI’s win on Saturday
Anthony Molloy has been named Club Player of the Week. The all-rounder played a nerveless innings in a successful run chase for the 1st XI on Saturday.
Molloy suffered a hamstring injury just three balls into his opening spell of bowling against Southport & Birkdale. This ended his deeds with the ball for the day. But his day was far from over, as he produced an innings-steadying knock of 55 from 67 balls to guide his side to victory by three wickets. Anthony is enjoying a good run of form with the bat, after an undefeated 64 against Colwyn Bay a week ago.
Maghull Director of Cricket, Paul McKenna, decides on the weekly award winner. He named Anthony the winner after his match-winning knock.
Cam Lawrenson, Maghull’s captain on Saturday, said, “Anthony played a really professional innings with the bat. He was so patient and clever, and it really held our innings together. And to do that while injured, in the heat the game was played in? Fantastic.”
Well played, Anthony!
