The 3rd XI batter came into the side and got a successful run chase off to a flying start
John Comer has been named Club Player of the Week after helping the 3rd XI chase down 205 at Caldy and secure their fifth consecutive win.
Playing just his third game of the season, John opened the batting and top-scored with 58 from 79 balls. He struck 10 fours and shared a 109-run opening partnership with Lewis Wells.
John brought up his first half-century for Maghull since June 2013. He also recorded his first fifty for the 3rd XI since 2011.
Maghull Director of Cricket, Paul McKenna, decides on the weekly award winner. He named John the winner for his crucial knock.
3rd XI captain Gareth Lloyd said, “John’s innings was measured and perfectly paced. He provided us with the platform to complete the run chase. The only mistake he made was ignoring the old cricketing maxim of never running on a misfield!”
Well batted, John. You never lose it.
