Josh Byrne Named Player of the Week

The 1st XI’s No.3 top-scored in their draw against Spring View.

Josh Byrne has been named Club Player of the Week. The right-handed batter top-scored for the 1st XI on Saturday.

Josh held the Maghull innings together, with 27 of the first 65 runs. By the time he was last man out for 81, Maghull had made a competitive 184. They were unable to take more than seven Spring View wickets, however, and the match ended in a draw.

Josh has scored 393 runs for the 1st XI this season, and Saturday was the third time this season he has gone past the half-century mark. Josh also went past 1,000 1st XI runs during his innings.

Maghull Director of Cricket, Paul McKenna, decides on the weekly award winner. He named Josh the winner after his batting deeds.

Neil Dutton, club secretary, said, “Josh has been really consistent this season. Getting a thousand 1st XI runs is a fantastic achievement, and hopefully he’s got a few more thousand in him!”

Well batted, Josh!
